Aslam Khan

Director – Strategy

Aslam Khan is the Chairman and Managing Director of Octaware Technologies. He is an experienced technologist, visionary entrepreneur, and result-oriented business leader with a proven track record of leading strategy development and execution, to deliver rapid growth and scalable sustained profitability.

Driven by his passion for entrepreneurship, he is a staunch believer in the idea of economic and social development through entrepreneurship. Aslam has carried this belief into his vision for Octaware – “To serve, add value and create growth for individuals, businesses and social entities.”

Before the inception of Octaware in 2005, he was the Director of AskMe Corporation – Seattle, where he established AskMe’s wholly-owned subsidiary in India, which was later acquired by RealCom Software Inc, Japan. Before AskMe, he worked at Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, USA, as a lead developer on the Windows 2000 family of products. Earlier on, he worked at Citibank N.A, Japan, and developing software for financial trading platform.

A self-taught serial entrepreneur and socially responsible investor, he has strived towards establishing numerous healthcare businesses, including a multi-speciality hospital and a rehabilitation centre in India. His philanthropic contributions are channelled through the RIDA Foundation, a BSE-Sammaan CSR Exchange-listed Charitable Trust he has created along with a group of academic, medical, and corporate professionals to improve the quality of life of the needy through meaningful education and medical assistance. He is also leading an initiative to promote entrepreneurship and innovation through a business incubator and accelerator facility for start-ups. He was instrumental in conceptualizing and building a QA Lab for the National Association of Blind (Employment & Training) to generate employment opportunities for the Visually Challenged in the IT industry. He has addressed various student forums to acquaint them with the opportunities available in the software industry in terms of employment and entrepreneurship.

Aslam holds a bachelors’ degree in Engineering from the University of Mumbai and a master’s degree in Research from Lancaster University, UK. He has completed the Advanced Management Program at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and has secured executive education at Harvard Business School, MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Said Business School of Oxford University, and Stanford Graduate School of Business.

He is a member of the advisory boards of several organizations that operate in the space of information technology and healthcare. He also serves as a member of the Steering Committee of NASSCOM Foundation’s Business Responsibility Forum. Further, he is a member of the NASSCOM Regional Council – West. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of Electronic and Computer Software Promotion Council (ESC), Government of India.

Aslam’s brainchild, Octaware Technologies Limited, was listed on the BSE –SME platform on April 5, 2017, and Transpact Enterprises Limited, made a landmark beginning of becoming the 1st Start-up listed at BSE Start-ups platform on September 5, 2019. The listing of Transpact at the BSE made it his 3rd listing in 3 consecutive years.

Having travelled to more than 100 countries, Aslam is a member of the prestigious Travelers’ Century Club.
